Kinder­garten in Podkowa

In 2022 BJERG won a recog­nized award for the kinder­garten in Podkowa to the Green Build­ing Award in Poland. The build­ing is recog­nized for its sustain­able design.

We have used the passive house prin­ci­ples, and the kinder­garten is, among other things, char­ac­ter­ized by having solar cells, passive solar shad­ing from the windows, heat recov­ery and a well-thought-out struc­ture that is opti­mized to utilize solar energy. The robust facade is made of wood and fits in the surround­ing forest land­scape. In the middle is the heart of the kinder­garten: a green atrium. The kinder­garten is 1452 m² and includes 7 group rooms.

In the design choices and furnish­ings, we have focused on creat­ing space for play, commu­nity and nature. The needs of both the chil­dren and the employ­ees are met.
